Coaching is one of the most rewarding roles in football. To watch a player try something new, and see the moment it clicks - that is what this is all about. Virginia United FC is built on the quality of its coaches, and we want more great coaches at every level of our club.
Whether you are a parent-volunteer starting out, a community coach looking to sharpen your sessions, or an experienced coach pursuing advanced qualifications - there is a place for you here and we will support your growth.
We don't coach movements. We design environments that produce footballers.
Everything we do is grounded in a Constraints-Led Approach. Rather than giving players the answers, we design the environment to create the problem. Small-sided games, changing rules and spaces, and questions rather than instructions - these are our tools. If you want to understand the philosophy in detail, visit our Football Philosophy & Player Pathway page.
If you have an interest in coaching but no formal experience, our volunteer positions are a great place to start. Positions are available across all age groups from U6 to senior. The club provides coaches with access to our coaching handbook and online materials.
Experienced coaches with formal qualifications can apply for positions across our ASP, FQA Junior, and FQA Youth programs, as well as our FQPL and U23 Men's and Women's teams. We are always looking for coaches who are aligned with our philosophy and committed to the development of players. Advanced positions are contracted and remunerated.
Virginia United FC is committed to the growth of coaches at every level of our club. The investment we have made in our FQA coaching staff is the start of a broader commitment - we want to extend that culture of development into every corner of the club.
If you want to grow as a coach, we want to help. Whether that means attending a session at the Reds Coaching Series, completing an FQ Entry Level or Grassroots course, or pursuing a formal C, B, or A Diploma - we will point you in the right direction and support you where we can.
• FQ Entry Level and Grassroots courses
• C Diploma, B Diploma, and A Diploma pathways through Football Queensland
• Regular coach education sessions run through the Reds Coaching Series
• Coach development meetings and shared learning sessions throughout the season
• Mentoring from qualified coaching staff within the FQA program
For upcoming FQ coaching courses, visit the Football Queensland website or speak to our coaching team. If you are interested in coaching at VUFC or want to know more about coach development, get in touch.
Running throughout June 2026, the Reds Coaching Series is a four-week program of open sessions, live model coaching, and FQA observation - open to every coach and parent in the VUFC community.
